The Greene County High School band and choir presented its annual awards concert May 6, performing the same music they performed at the Iowa High School Music Association’s large group contest at Gilbert High School on May 9. The following recordings are from the concert in Jefferson.
The concert band performed Variations on a Korean Folk Song by John Barnes Chance and the march Brighton Beach by William P. Latham. The band received a “I” rating at the large group contest. Director is Becky Greiner. The march follows:
The choir placed first in its class at a competition April 26 at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, and earned a “II” rating at the IHSMA large group contest in Gilbert May 9. The choir performed The Seal Lullaby by Eric Whitacre and Zigenerleben by Robert Shumann. This recording of Zegenerleben features soloists (in order) sophomore Danielle Johnson, junior Annie Palmer, sophomore David Petersen, senior Logan Hoyt and sophomore Victoria Sims. The choir was accompanied by senior Jasmine Mobley. Director is Dave Heupel.ictoria Sims.
